Email management of Booking.com: NEW
#1
Dear all,

we recently received an official comunication from Booking.com: they developped a new policy regarding management of private messages. Better explained: Booking.com has decided to not publish guest email addresses. Not in their extranet nor in the channel manager. In both places you will now see an "alias" (i.e.: 12345@booking.com). By contacting that email address, Booking.com will receive and forward the message to the real guest email address. In a safe way!

In other words, Booking.com becomes the intermediary for all the communications through email.

This policy is totally independent from the WooDoo Channel Manager: even by accessing the OTA extranet you won't be able to see the real email. You will only see the "alias". I would also like to be clear with that, because we always stands in the middle, between customers (hoteliers) and providers (OTAs). From this unconfortable position, we can do nothing to avoid this policy!

I publish hereafter what Booking.com annonunced few days ago:
Quote:Dear partner,

As you may already be aware, scammers are increasingly trying to find ways to gain access to online platforms like Booking.com. They try to use email addresses, as well as links, attachments and images in e-mails, to illegally gain access to the private information of our customers and properties.

Because we, Booking.com are committed to protecting our guests and partners from these kinds of email-based attacks, we are providing our partners with two features to create an even more secure and convenient method for them to communicate directly with their Booking.com guests.

Starting next week, guest and partner email addresses will be made anonymous in order to provide an extra level of security. Regular email traffic between partner and guest is still possible. The difference is that the identity, of partner and guests, will be protected. In addition, it will no longer be possible to send links, images, attachments, or anything of this nature. This ensures that sender and receiver are less susceptible to online scammers.

In addition, partners will also be able to actively start the conversation via their extranet. Under each reservation the partner will find a button which allows direct e-mail communication with their future guest.

Our goal with these features is to enable easy and convenient communication, while providing an enhanced level of protection partners and guests.

If you have any questions, please do hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,
